JJBA: Diamond Records Revival

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Records was a Japan-only mobile game published in 2017 by Bandai Namco. The game featured numerous characters from parts 1-5 of the JJBA franchise, allowing you to take them into beat em' up or turn-based RPG levels in teams of three. However, in November 2019, Bandai Namco terminated service for the game and permanently shut the servers down, leaving the game unplayable.

The Diamond Records Revival project is being built from the ground up and aims to create a new beat em' up experience in spirit of the original JoJo DR.  While it isn't an exact recreation of the original game, we've given the gameplay our own spin to fit the PC platform.

In addition to paying tribute to a game we as a team used to enjoy, this project also serves as a love letter to the JJBA franchise as a whole. What we hope to achieve with this project is to not only let old DR players relive their favorite moments of the original game, but also bring a fun gameplay experience to newcomers who like JoJo!

Gameplay

Much like the original game, Diamond Records Revival allows you to create a team of up to three characters to bring to various levels and challenges. In battle, you will be able to switch your character at any time as you take on hoards of enemies and iconic bosses. Every character has a unique skillset, so don't forget to experiment!

Build your JoJo dream team! Diamond Records Revival aims to create a wide roster of playable characters from the JJBA series, covering all of the characters featured in the original game. However, Revival ALSO introduces brand new characters with original models such as Deep Pass Overdrive Jonathan Joestar and Doobie, the Monstrous!

The initial release of the game will focus primarily on the roots of the series in Phantom Blood, however the game will be expanded with new character additions and levels to play as time goes on.

Gacha?

Diamond Records was a gacha game, which meant you would use currency to roll for a chance to get your favorite characters. This currency was in limited quantities, but you could spend money to get more.

However, Revival is a fangame! Absolutely nothing is monetized, so there are no purchases to be made. There will however be a gacha system implemented, as we do believe there was a charm to DR's pulls system that we wish to bring back. Collecting characters will not exclusively rely on a gacha system, and it will mostly only be there for novelty purposes. 

The Demo

The first downloadable playtest of the Diamond Records Revival project will be LIVE on New Years 2022!! The demo includes a few levels with three playable characters with full kits! Be sure to check back here as well as on the Twitter page!!
